One dead, three critical in Adelaide crash

A 56-year-old Adelaide man has died and three other people are in a critical condition after a truck collided with three cars in Glen Osmond.

A man has died and three other people are in a critical condition after a truck collided with three cars in Adelaide's south.

Police say the truck was attempting a left-hand turn just after 1pm (CST) on Monday when it crashed into the stationary cars at the intersection of Glen Osmond Road and Cross Road in Glen Osmond.

The 56-year-old driver of one of the cars was rushed to hospital but died a short time later.

Two female drivers, aged 41 and 49, and the 28-year-old truck driver remain in a critical condition at Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Superintendent Bob Fauser said it appeared that the truck had been travelling at speed but stressed that investigations were continuing.

"We don't yet know the cause of this but we certainly understand that it is a high-risk location," he told reporters.
