Wild weather has destroyed one house near Armidale.

Local resident Jim told the ABC he saw the house disappear.

"It was like an express train going through and we could see debris flying about in the air

"Our neighbour lives about 800 yards away from us and her house and shed got taken out."

The Bureau of Meteorolgy says a regional severe thundestorm warning is still valid for people in the Mid North Coast, Metropolitan, Northern Tablelands and parts of the Northern Rivers, Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains Forecast Districts.

The situation will continue to be monitored and further detailed warnings will be issued if necessary.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning remains current for the Mid North Coast, Metropolitan, Northern Tablelands and parts of the Northern Rivers, Hunter, Illawarra, Central Tablelands and North West Slopes and Plains districts.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
