One killed, three injured in Vic car crash

A woman has died after the car she was travelling in hit a tree in north east Victoria on Wednesday, three other passengers were hospitalised.

A woman has died and another has suffered life-threatening injuries after a car crashed into a tree during an ice storm in Victoria.

Two other passengers in the car were also injured.

All four occupants were taken to hospital after the vehicle veered off the road in Springhurst, in the state's north east, on Wednesday afternoon.

An 87-year-old Wangaratta woman in the car died later that evening.

An 82-year-old woman from Queensland suffered life-threatening injuries, while a 16-year-old Queensland boy had minor injuries.

The driver, a 90-year-old Wangaratta man, suffered serious injuries.

The death brings Victoria's road toll to 134 for the year, up from 120 at the same time in 2013.
