A French interior ministry spokesman says a second police officer is not dead following a fatal shooting in central Paris.

The interior ministry spokesman said two police officers were seriously wounded in a shooting on the Champs-Elysees on Thursday night, that killed one police officer.

An earlier Reuters report said a second police officer had died from his wounds.

Police said a search was underway at the home east of Paris of an attacker who was shot dead after opening fire on police.
