Online job vacancies up 9.4% in 2015

Job vacancies posted on the internet grew by 0.7 per cent in December to be 9.4 per cent higher than a year earlier.

Improving signs in Australia's manufacturing sector has resulted in growing demand for machinery operators and drivers.

The Department of Employment's vacancy report for December says advertisements on the internet for such positions grew by 2.3 per cent in the month, the strongest occupational group in the month.

Overall vacancies grew by a seasonally-adjusted 0.7 per cent in December to be 9.4 per cent higher than a year earlier.
