An online retailer has got its wires crossed over the result of Scotland's independence referendum, accidentally emailing customers to let them know it had launched in a "new country".

Furniture retailer Made.com sent the email to customers today, announcing it had launched in a new country – Scotland – and offering them a £10 discount on orders over £100.
The website quickly realised its mistake and sent another email apologising and declaring: "Scotland, it's great to have you back!"
"We accidentally hit send on an email we’d prepared in case of a 'YES' vote for Scottish independence," the second email read.

The retailer then offered customers a discount on products using the alternative code "GreatBritain".

Unfortunately for the company, the mistake was not lost on Twitter users.
