Oprah dismisses Tina Turner stroke rumour

US TV mogul and actress Oprah Winfrey has dismissed rumours that her good friend Tina Turner has suffered a stroke.

TV mogul Oprah Winfrey has put a stop to rumours suggesting retired singer Tina Turner has suffered a stroke, insisting her close pal is alive and well after battling a bout of influenza.

Winfrey took it upon herself to dismiss the claims of bad health after a Twitter post caught her eye on Saturday.

The message, sent from the account @CarpeDiemJBS, read: "Has anyone else hear (sic)/read that Legendary Tina Turner recently suffered a stroke?"

Winfrey responded, "@CarpeDiemJBS Tina had a bad flu weeks ago. She's recovered. And Living life!"

Turner, who wed longtime boyfriend Erwin Bach last year, has been keeping a low profile in her adopted Switzerland since retiring in 2009.
