Optus plans to improve its products and services for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB), with 126 new small business specialist stores and a dedicated call centre team in Adelaide.

Optus, which is owned by Singapore Telecommunications, will kick off its SMB focus with a partnership with Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe being the face of the campaign.

The company is also working with actor and co-founder of US burger chain Wahlburgers, Mark Wahlberg, on a campaign that encourages small business operators "to believe big", managing director of Optus small business said on Monday in a statement.
