The two referees, widely praised for their handling of the State of Origin opener, have again been named to officiate game two of the interstate series in Sydney.

Lead referee Matt Cecchin and assistant Gerard Sutton were unveiled on Tuesday as the Origin II officials, with Bernard Sutton the senior review official in the bunker.

NRL referees boss Tony Archer said both referees deserved a second match after their performance in game one, when just six penalties were blown at Suncorp Stadium.

The first half in Brisbane has been widely described as one of the best periods in Origin history.

"Their performance in game one was excellent and they have maintained their form in the NRL premiership since then," Archer said.

"All officials have earned the right to retain their positions for this important game. I believe this is the right team to officiate in game two."

Brett Suttor and Chris Butler are the touch judges.
