Brisbane forward Josh McGuire says he'll "cry like a little girl" if reports he's poised to make his State of Origin debut prove correct.

The 25-year-old is named on the bench in a leaked Queensland team for Origin I, intensifying speculation he'll get the nod when coach Mal Meninga unveils the Maroons squad next week.

McGuire, who has played international football for Samoa, told a Brisbane radio station he'd struggle to keep his emotions in check if he does get a call-up.

"I haven't been told anything, fingers crossed obviously," McGuire told Brisbane's Triple M Grill Team.

"If I get an opportunity it'd be a dream come true.

"I'd be that excited I'd probably start crying like a little girl."

McGuire is suspended for Brisbane's trip to Townsville on Friday to play rivals North Queensland but has been a key part behind the Broncos rise to the top of the NRL ladder.

The prop has started all nine of the Broncos matches, averaging 31 tackles and 116 metres per game.
