Origin winner 'Hodko' no NRL certainty

Despite helping to guide NSW to victory in State of Origin II, Trent Hodkinson is no certainty to play for the Bulldogs this weekend.

Trent Hodkinson has conceded he is no certainty of returning to the Canterbury side despite steering NSW to their State of Origin II win.

Hodkinson was one of the Blues' best in their 26-18 win at the MCG on Wednesday, but may not get a run for the struggling Bulldogs against Penrith in round 15 of the NRL on Saturday.

Dogs coach Des Hasler hasn't named any of his Origin players for the match, but Hodkinson's spot in the side is under pressure regardless after he was dragged in the win over St George Illawarra two weeks ago.

"We will have to see what happens there, all I can do is keep my head high and work hard and go from there," Hodkinson said.

"I expect to play (on the weekend) but you never know with Des. He has always got a trick up his sleeve but we will have to see what happens.

"I don't think any of the Origin boys were named so we will see what happens."

Moses Mbye again starred for Canterbury in their last-start loss to the Gold Coast, while Josh Reynolds turned the game against the Dragons when he replaced Hodkinson.

That leaves the off-contract Blues halfback's future at the Dogs under a cloud.

However Hodkinson said the criticism of his game in Origin I and his efforts at the Bulldogs didn't worry him in the lead-up to game two.

"I just didn't look into it, there wasn't too much talk in the lead-up to be honest down here (in Melbourne)," he said.

"It was a lot quieter, it was a different feeling not being in Sydney or Brisbane.

"I think it helped the team as well."
