Otaegui leads Lyoness Open

Adrian Otaegui carded a bogey-free eight-under 64 to take a two-stroke lead on the opening day of the Lyoness Open.

Adrian Otaegui of Spain carded a bogey-free eight-under 64 to take a two-stroke lead on a cloudy and windy opening day of the Lyoness Open in Austria.

A week after finishing 12-over at the Nordea Masters in Sweden, Otaegui had two series of three successive birdies.

He leads Bjorn Akesson of Sweden by two, and is three clear of both Gary Stal of France and Zander Lombard of South Africa.

Akesson had seven birdies but dropped a stroke on the par-four 17th, while Stal carded two eagles and three bogeys.

Defending champion Chris Wood of England was three-under after the 13th but finished on 71 after hitting three bogeys on the last five holes.

Ryder Cup vice-captain Thomas Bjorn pulled out with a back injury after 15 holes.
