Watch the sporting highlights we've chosen from the first half of 2014, featuring a Swiss taking out tennis' Australian Open (and it wasn't Roger Federer), Australian cyclists dominating the opening race of the 2014 UCI World Tour and South Australia's Tour Down Under being won for a record third time by Australian national champion Simon Gerrans ahead of his compatriot Cadel Evans.

And below, in part two, is a reminder of what's happend in the second half of 2014, from Vincenzo Nibali's joyous win of the Tour de France (first Italian to do so since the late Marco Pantani) to Australian cricketer Phillip Hughes' tragic and untimely death.
