AP - Australian Olympic gold medal sailor Nathan Outteridge has skippered Sweden's Artemis Racing to victory in the America's Cup World Series stop on Lake Michigan.

Artemis had finishes of second, first and fourth in the first taste of America's Cup-style racing on fresh water.

The World Series regattas are warmups for the 2017 America's Cup in Bermuda.

"We feel that we have very good boat handling now, and very good speed," said 30-year-old Outteridge, who claimed 49er Olympic gold in 2012 with Iain Jensen.

"We wanted to be consistent all weekend, and the guys really stepped it up."

Rounding out the field were Rover BAR of England, two-time defending America's Cup champion Oracle BMW Racing, SoftBank Team Japan, Emirates Team New Zealand and Groupama Team France.

Emirates Team New Zealand continues to lead the overall standings, followed by Land Rover BAR, Oracle, Artemis Racing, SoftBank Team Japan and Groupama Team France.
