LeBron James finished with 27 points but still couldn't prevent his Cleveland side blowing a 22-point lead to lose to Indiana 97-95 in the NBA.
The Pacers have now won three of four and improved to 3-0 against the three-time defending Eastern Conference champs.
James had two chances in the final two seconds on Friday night to win it and missed both opportunities - first, the four-time MVP stepped out of bounds with 1.7 seconds to go.
Then, after Darren Collison made a free throw to give the Pacers a 97-95 lead, James' desperation shot at a three-pointer bounced high off the rim as the buzzer sounded.
Elsewhere, Bradley Beal and John Wall each scored 30 points and the Washington Wizards snapped a two-game losing streak with a 125-119 victory over the Orlando Magic.
Wall injured his ankle on the final play of the first half after landing on teammate Marcin Gortat's foot while attempting to rebound.
He left the court but opened the second half and scored 10 points in the third quarter, including an emphatic driving dunk.
And Kemba Walker scored 22 points and Frank Kaminsky added 16 to lead the Charlotte Hornets to their fourth victory in six games, 99-88 over the Utah Jazz.
In Denver, Will Barton scored 17 points, Trey Lyles had 16 as the Nuggets overcame a slow start to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 87-78, snapping a season-long three-game losing streak.
Anthony Davis scored 36 points in his return from a right ankle sprain, as the New Orleans Pelicans beat the Portland Trail Blazers 119-113.
Davis did not appear at all bothered by the injury that kept him out of Wednesday night's narrow loss in Memphis.
In Atlanta, Spencer Dinwiddie had 20 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds, Jahlil Okafor added 17 points in a reserve role as the Brooklyn Nets beat the Atlanta Hawks 110-105.
Meanwhile, Karl-Anthony Towns fell one assist shy of his second career triple-double, scoring 23 points and grabbing 15 rebounds in the Minnesota Timberwolves' 118-108 victory over the New York Knicks.
Chris Paul scored 25 points to lead six Houston players in the double figures and the Rockets, still without injured James Harden, rolled past the Phoenix Suns 112-95.
Finally, Golden State Warriors' tightened up their defence in the fourth quarter and opened their five-game road trip with a 108-94 victory in Milwaukee.
Kevin Durant and Draymond Green each drilled three-pointers late in the game to help seal the win.
