Pair charged over theft of 800 computers

Two Sydney men, both aged 20, have been charged after more than 800 iPads and MacBooks were stolen from schools across NSW.

Two men have been charged after the theft of 800 computers, valued at $500,000, from schools across NSW.

Police said the MacBooks and iPads were stolen from more than 20 schools in Sydney's north-west and south, along with the Southern Highlands and Illawarra regions.

Two men, both aged 20, have been arrested after police raided a pawn shop in Kings Cross last month, where they recovered 176 computers.

Police believe the pair were part of an organised crime syndicate.

One of the alleged thieves, from South Windsor, will face Penrith Local Court on Friday charged with 44 offences.

The other man, from Ebenezer, has been charged with 26 offences and will stay in police custody until his next court appearance on February 27.

Police say investigations are continuing.
