Pair jailed over Adelaide car wash murder

A woman and her lover have been jailed over the killing of her former partner at an Adelaide car wash.

A woman who lured her former partner into an Adelaide car wash, where he was shot in the head by her lover, has been jailed for at least 20 years.

Jason Bucca, 27, fired the fatal shot which killed Adrian McDonald at the Big Bucket Car wash in February, 2013, and has been jailed for at least 25 years.

Bucca's lover, Tristan Kaye Castle, had convinced Mr MacDonald to meet her and when she drove to the scene of the crime Bucca was hiding in the boot of her car.

When Mr MacDonald got in she started to drive off, but he became aware of Bucca's presence and tried to flee.

It was then that Bucca fired a shot into his hip, a second shot that missed and then the fatal shot into his head.

Imposing non-parole periods for murder in the Supreme Court on Thursday, Justice David Peek said Bucca believed Mr McDonald owed him $1000 and was determined to abduct and murder the 39-year-old.

"You had previously threatened to shoot the deceased and, in the end, you carried out that threat," the judge told Bucca.

"There is nothing that mitigates the callous nature of that third and fatal shot."

In relation to Castle, Justice Peek said the 38-year-old had agreed to help Bucca knowing that he might use a weapon to murder Mr McDonald.

"You nevertheless proceeded to lure the deceased into your car with Mr Bucca hiding in the boot," the judge said.
