Joined by dozens of celebrities from Pakistan's film, television and music industry, Pakistani pop star and Bollywood actor Ali Zafar decided to write a song for peace.

"We need to aspire for peace," he said.

"We need to aspire for greater things like education for all and take a stand. All of us together. So this is what I wanted this song to be, to become an anthem for everybody, for this song to have the ability to express the entire nation's feelings."

Mr Zafar wrote 'We'll Fly' after gunmen tore through a school in Peshawar, killing at least 145 people - most of them young children.

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mr Zafar tells CNN he was so horrified by the attack he cancelled all his concers to return to the studio in order to write the song.

"Just like Lennon wrote Imagine, this is you can say this is my imagine for my country to aspire for a land which has all of this, that's what this song is about."

The song doesn't just carry a powerful message - proceeds will also go towards building schools across Pakistan.
