Palmer parleys repeal of carbon tax

While it does look as if the federal government will get its way over scrapping the carbon tax, there is still more talking to do.

Palmer United Party leader Clive Palmer and Prime Minister Tony Abbott have met over a cup of tea in Canberra to discuss Mr Palmer's conditions for supporting the abolition of the carbon tax.

Both men say the meeting was fruitful and encouraging.

A spokeswoman for Mr Abbott says the Prime Minister welcomes Mr Palmer's commitment and will take strong action to ensure electricity price cuts flow through to consumers.

Mr Palmer says he's confident an agreement will be reached.

But as Amanda Cavill reports, while it does look as if the government will get its way over scrapping the carbon tax, there is still more talking to do.
