Clive Palmer says it's more important to be loved and have a warm bed than be wealthy after he slid down the BRW 200 Rich list.

Clive Palmer is unfazed by his dramatic slide on the BRW 200 Rich list, saying it's more important to be loved and have a warm bed than be wealthy.

Mr Palmer was No.112 on this year's list with a wealth of $570 million after being ranked 30th in 2015.

However, the businessman-turned-politician says he has no idea what he's worth and it doesn't really matter anyway.

"We're all worth about $3.98 that's the value of the minerals in our body, it's an illusion to think anything else in life," he told ABC radio on Friday.

"As long as you've got someone who loves you and a good warm bed you're pretty happy.

"I've never paid much attention to the BRW lists and they're certainly not accurate on this occasion."

Mr Palmer's rich list tumble comes as special purpose liquidators pursue his assets in a bid to recover almost $70 million in taxpayer funds used to cover the unpaid entitlements of sacked Queensland Nickel workers.

He rejected suggestions he should personally pay out the entitlements, saying he didn't sack anyone and had $23 million to inject into the refinery to keep workers employed.

Mr Palmer last week announced he would not pursue a Senate seat, three weeks after he decided against trying to keep his lower house seat of Fairfax at the July 2 poll.
