Billionaire Clive Palmer's Jurassic Park has been given the go-ahead at his Sunshine Coast resort because it will be low-key and nothing like Disneyland.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council unanimously approved an application on Thursday that will see the mining magnate allowed to install 160 fake dinosaurs at his Coolum Resort.
Councillors had previously expressed concerns about the idea, saying it would make a mockery of the resort's golf course, which had previously hosted the PGA Tour each year.
But Councillor Jason O'Pray says a recent visit of the proposed site has allayed any concerns.
"It's a very small, low-key dinosaur display at best," he told AAP.
"This is not Disneyland. It is not a theme park."
While Mr O'Pray said he didn't think the dinosaur display would increased tourism in the region by itself, it would attract more customers to the resort.
He said Mr Palmer's new vintage car display was also a major drawcard.
Mr Palmer has already erected some dinosaurs in his resort, including an eight-metre Tyrannosaurus Rex named Jeff - in reference to deputy premier Jeff Seeney.
While most of those yet to be installed won't be as massive, they are all expected to move in some way or another and make noise.
The eccentric billionaire is also building the Titanic II, which will retrace the ill-fated journey of its doomed predecessor.
He is also trying his hand at becoming prime minister after registering his Palmer United Party and promising to stand candidates in every electorate.
The PGA Tour split ties with Coolum Resort earlier this year after several skirmishes with Mr Palmer, particularly over sponsorship and course signage.
