Dimitris Salpingidis has scored from close range in the 84th minute to help PAOK snatch a 1-1 draw at Panathinaikos in the Greek league play-offs.

Mladen Petric had opened the scoring for Panathinaikos in the 21st minute of Sunday's match.

The start of the game was delayed 25 minutes because as soon as some 300 visiting PAOK supporters were seated, fans started exchanging flares and throwing broken seats.

Usually, fans do not attend away games as a precaution against violence.

Earlier, Asteras defeated Atromitos 1-0.

Asteras, Panathinaikos and PAOK have four points and Atromitos has two after the second of six play-off rounds between the teams that finished second to fifth in the regular season.

The playoff winner will join Olympiakos in next season's Champions League, with the others entering the Europa League.
