Eight months after sacking Ivan Cleary as the club's NRL coach, Penrith have locked in the former mentor's son until the end of 2019.
Both Nathan Cleary and promising young forward James Fisher-Harris, who were each already signed until the end of 2018, have extended their contracts with the club for an extra season.
At just 18, Cleary has already spent a great deal of time training with the first grade squad, and given the age of both Jamie Soward and Peter Wallace, is likely to form an important part of the club's future.
"Nathan has been upgraded from this year's NYC squad into our top 25 NRL squad. At only 18 years of age, this is an amazing achievement," general manager of football Phil Gould said.
"Whilst he is yet to make his NRL debut, we are investing in Nathan being one of our halves in the long-term future of the Panthers."
Meanwhile Fisher-Harris, who is currently nursing a broken thumb, has played 10 games for the club since debuting in round one against Canberra.
"Despite the fact James has only played a handful of NRL matches, we are extremely confident in his potential and have invested in his long-term future with this deal," Gould said.
"I have no doubt this young man will be an integral part of our NRL team and a regular member of the New Zealand Test squad in years to come."
