Penrith supremo Phil Gould is promising to keep skipper Matt Moylan at the NRL club for life.

The star fullback is in negotiations with the Panthers on multi-million dollar new deal, which would keep him at the foot of the mountains until at least 2021.

The 24-year-old, yet to earn a NSW Origin or Test jumper, is contracted until the end of 2017.

It has been reported the four-year deal would see him rival Manly's Daly Cherry-Evans as the game's highest paid player.

Gould was adamant there was no chance the local junior would ever pull on a rival club's jersey.

"Matty will be with us for life. It's just a matter of time when we do that," Gould said.

"We're very confident."

The Panthers said last month they were hoping to have Moylan's new deal completed in the near future, but Gould claimed there was no haste in negotiations.

Moylan is viewed as the long-term face of the club, as demonstrated by his elevation to the captaincy despite the presence of a host of experienced campaigners in the squad.

Injuries over the last two years have limited Moylan's NRL appearances, having missed the second half of 2015 with an ankle problem and the first month of this season with a back complaint.
