A member of the Australian navy's Red Berets parachute team has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken pelvis after landing awkwardly on the SCG.

A team of parachutists delivered the match ball around 25 minutes before the start of the Sydney-West Coast AFL game.

The injured parachutist was treated out on the ground for several minutes after his landing in the centre square.

He was stretchered off the ground in a vehicle and appeared to have a neck brace on.
