Paris-airport express train due in 2023

France has announced plans for an express train to connect Charles de Gaulle airport and downtown Paris by 2023.

A new express train will connect Charles de Gaulle airport and downtown Paris starting in 2023, France's transport minister, Frederic Cuvillier, has announced.

The CDG Express will take 20 minutes to reach Gare de l'Est (Paris East station) without a stop. That will halve today's 40-minute journey time.

Construction of an eight-kilometre missing link needed to complete the line is set to begin in 2017.

According to media reports, the one-way ticket price is likely to increase from the current 10 euros ($A15.31) to about 24 euros.
