Sung Hyun Park has taken took full advantage of a fresh start to be the clubhouse leader in the final LPGA major of the year on Friday.
The South Korean carded an eight-under 63 to lead by three shots from Australian Katherine Kirk (66) after the rescheduled first round.
Play was abandoned on Thursday due to significant rain, strong winds and wet course conditions at Evian-les-Bains, France, with organisers forced to confirm a 54-hole event.
"I forgot about yesterday and just focused on my play today," Park said through a translator.
Tied for third at four-under were American Jessica Korda and Women's British Open winner In-Kyung Kim.
World No.3 Park, the US Women's Open champion, played in a stellar group with top-ranked So Yeon Ryu (75) and No.2 Lexi Thompson (70).
Kirk, playing in the first group on course for a second straight day, said just before the suspension that Thursday had been "the worst conditions I have ever seen."
Another player to seize their second chance in the cool sunshine was Ai Miyazato of Japan, who is playing her final event before retiring.
Her round of 68 left her at three-under in a group that includes New Zealand's Lydia Ko.
Australia's top ranked golfer Minjee Lee is tied-10th at two-under after a 69.
