Rumours that Sam Thaiday is set to be re-installed as Brisbane's captain are nothing more than that, according to Broncos veteran Corey Parker.
Justin Hodges and Parker were installed as co-captains at the NRL club following Thaiday's decision to step down from the captaincy before the 2014 season.
The pair won't retain those roles for next season, with coach Wayne Bennett telling media on his first day back at the Broncos last week that his first decision was to scrap the co-captain idea.
The 64-year-old wouldn't reveal who would be named as the Broncos' new skipper but rumours have surfaced since his announcement that Thaiday is the man to step into the role.
The Queensland and Australia forward captained the Broncos for three seasons from 2011 but stepped down in January claiming he and then-coach Anthony Griffin had decided the leadership was affecting his form.
Parker said he hadn't heard anything concrete about who would be getting the captaincy.
"It's a rumour at the moment. Until such time as myself and Hodgo have been told, that's what it'll stay as," Parker told Brisbane's B105 radio station.
"It is what it is at the moment. Whoever gets the job I'm sure will do a fine job."
Parker has been training throughout Bennett's early days in his second stint as Broncos coach as a member of the Kangaroos train-on squad.
He says the six-time premiership winning coach is already making a noticeable impact.
"It's great having him back. He's obviously done a wonderful job from day dot at the Brisbane Broncos."
