Parramatta Eels CEO steps down

Parramatta Eels CEO Scott Seward has stepped down from his position after a tumultous few months for the club.

Parramatta CEO Scott Seward has stepped down from the embattled club in the wake of the club's poor start to the season and salary cap dramas.

Seward on Sunday informed club chairman Steve Sharp that he would leave the Eels immediately citing personal reasons.

He had been under pressure after the team slumped to second last on the NRL ladder and was fined $525,000 for salary cap overspending.

The club's chief operating officer John Boulous has been appointed acting CEO while head of football operations Daniel Anderson will handle football administrative responsibilities previously handled by the CEO.

The Eels were handed a breach notice for overspending in four of the NRL's salary cap categories last year.

The NRL also threatened to deduct four competition points next year unless an independent review of the club is undertaken.

The club has challenged some of the rulings.

The Eels are under pressure placed second last on the ladder with just four wins from 13 games this season.
