Parramatta second-rower Mau Ma'u is facing an untimely one-match NRL suspension after being cited for a shoulder charge.

Ma'u looks set to miss surging Parramatta's blockbuster clash with fellow top-four side Brisbane on Thursday next week after copping the charge for a clumsy hit on Gold Coast halfback Ash Taylor in the Eels' big win over the Titans on Thursday night.

He would face a two-match ban if he unsuccessfully challenged the charge at a judiciary hearing.
