Parts of NSW highway opened after bushfire

The Princes Highway has reopened in both directions between Helensburgh and Bulli Tops in NSW after being closed because of a bushfire.

Part of the Princes Highway, south of Sydney, has been reopened as firefighters work to contain a nearby bushfire.

The highway was closed in both directions between Helensburgh and Bulli Tops on Friday afternoon after the blaze broke out at Madden Plains, causing heavy smoke to blanket the area.

A diversion via the M1 has also been lifted, the Transport Management Centre says.

Firefighters are still working to put out the blaze and motorists are being urged to exercise caution while driving in the area.
