Four heroic passersby have rescued an unconscious woman from a burning unit in Melbourne.

Heroic passersby have broken a window to rescue an unconscious woman from a burning unit in Melbourne.

The four good Samaritans broke the front window of the ground floor Prahran flat and rescued the woman at about 7.30am on Friday, the Metropolitan Fire Brigade said.

More than a dozen firefighters quickly brought the fire under control while the woman, believed to be drug affected, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
