The family of a schoolgirl mowed down by a car in Sydney's south say they want justice over the tragedy.

Just days ago, Nikul Patel had a daughter who was his everything.

Now the father feels he has lost everything after his teenage daughter Aneri Patel was killed by an out of control car while waiting for the bus in Sydney's south.

"She always loved us, she always cared for us," Mr Patel told the Seven Network.

"She was everything now I don't have anything."

Mr Patel visited the site outside a chemist in Kogarah on Wednesday where his 16-year-old daughter was hit and killed when a 4WD left the road on Monday morning.

Puipuimaota Galuvao, who is accused of being unlicensed and behind the wheel during the crash, has been charged with multiple offences, including dangerous driving occasioning death.

Ms Galuvao, 26, is the sister of two-time NRL premiership player Joe Galuvao.

Ms Galuvao's release on bail has sparked outrage in the community.

Aneri's grandfather, JC Patel, said the family required justice.

"That's all," he said.

The case also prompted a reaction from the state's top lawmaker.

Attorney-General Brad Hazzard defended the police decision to grant the allegedly fatal driver bail.

Mr Hazzard said whilst it was a "difficult and extremely sad event", the police who made the decision to grant bail "should be supported in the decision-making process".

In granting bail, police would have "carefully considered" whether the release of the defendant would impact on the protection of the community and the probability of the defendant appearing in court.

He said he had asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) to apply all necessary resources to the case.

Mr Hazzard had also "specifically" asked the DPP to consider the issues relating to bail, "having noted that the police have granted bail".

Ms Galuvao will appear in court in October.
