Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe says he'll throw his full support behind Matthew Pavlich if the ageing veteran decides to stay on as Fremantle skipper for another season.
Pavlich has been captain since 2007, but the 33-year-old is widely tipped to step down from the role in order to focus on getting his ageing body through one final AFL season.
Fyfe is the hot favourite to take over, but his teammates will have the ultimate say, with each player to be given a 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 vote.
If Pavlich decides to throw his hat into the ring for the captaincy job again, Fyfe won't have any qualms.
"If he puts his hand up, he'll have my full support," Fyfe told Channel 7.
"I was pretty excited (when he decided to play on).
"Pav's been part of the club since I've been there. And his leadership and playing ability is something we really value, and look forward to having this year."
Fyfe is recovering well from the broken leg he suffered against Hawthorn in last season's preliminary final.
The 24-year-old is already back at training, and he'll ramp up his workload after Christmas.
"I'm in pretty good health. I had a doctor's scan on Tuesday, and got the full tick off from him," Fyfe said.
Fyfe has enjoyed a whirlwind of publicity since winning the Brownlow medal.
He even hit the headlines while holidaying in the Maldives when pictures emerged of him helping locals repair a broken bridge.
Fremantle's recruitment of former Gold Coast midfielder Harley Bennell means Fyfe could spend more time up forward in 2016.
The Dockers struggled for scoring potency last season, but Fyfe's strong marking ability makes him an ideal candidate to spend more time in attack.
