Pearson grabs second in Zurich

Australia's Sally Pearson has finished second in the 100m hurdles event at the Diamond League meet in Zurich.

Sally Pearson has finished second in the women's 100m hurdles at the Diamond League meet in Zurich, again beaten by American Dawn Harper-Nelson.

In a dramatic race, in which the in-form American Queen Harrison crashed after clipping a hurdle, Pearson again enjoyed a strong start but was blitzed by Harper-Nelson in the final 50 metres.

Pearson ran 12.71 to Harper-Nelson's 12.58, which not only won the race, but also clinched the Diamond League women's 100m hurdles overall points race.

Meanwhile, in the women's discus, Commonwealth Games gold medallist Dani Samuels finished in third position with a best throw of 64.86m.

Earlier, Alana Boyd finished ninth in the women's pole vault - unable to clear 4.47m after successfully negotiating the 4.32m jump.

The Diamond League finishes on September 5 with the second final to be held in Brussels.
