Pedestrian critically injured in Bankstown

A 44-year-old man is in a critical condition after he was struck by a P-plate driver in Sydney's southwest.

A pedestrian has been left with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car in Sydney's southwest.

The 44-year-old man was knocked over in Bankstown on Wednesday afternoon.

He was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery, and remains in a critical but stable condition with head injuries.

The 17-year-old P-plate driver was taken to Bankstown Hospital for him to undergo mandatory blood and urine tests.
