Penalty rate impact factored into budget

The federal budget in May will show the bottom line impact of the cut in penalty rates, parliament has heard.

Treasurer Scott Morrison says the impact of cuts to Sunday penalty rates in some industries will be factored into the budget in May.

Labor asked Mr Morrison in parliament on Monday whether any budget modelling had been done since the decision by the Fair Work Commission to cut Sunday penalty rates for the retail, hospitality, fast food and pharmacy sectors.

"The budget each year takes into account all the various parameter estimates that need to be considered to provide forward estimate forecasts, whether it is on revenue or other matters and these will all be considered," Mr Morrison said.
