An increase to Australia's family visa program could put more pressure on NSW hospitals, the state's treasurer says.

Dominic Perrottet said NSW would be left to pick up the bill for federal Labor's temporary parents' visa.

NSW Treasury modelling, published by the Australian on Monday, suggests more than 37,000 elderly parents of migrants could arrive in the state under a federal Labor government.

"Federal Labor cannot leave state governments to pick up the tab for their expensive immigration policies," Mr Perrottet told the Australian.
