Perth Airport escapee found

A Vietnamese immigration detainee who escaped custody just hours before he was due to be deported has been found.

A Vietnamese man who escaped custody just hours before he was due to be deported has been found after two months on the run.

The man had fled from the departures check-in at Perth Airport while under escort on June 8.

West Australian police stopped a Malaysian national on Tuesday who they suspected was a non-citizen, which led them to find the Vietnamese man and 10 other non-citizens, a spokesman for Immigration Minister Scott Morrison said.

The spokeswoman said all 11 people would be returned to their home countries as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, an Indian man is still on the run in Perth after escaping custody while on an excursion on Tuesday.

The immigration detainee was staying at the Yongah Hill Immigration Detention Centre near Northam but was believed to have been at a Sikh temple in Bayswater when he fled from guards.
