The threat from a bushfire burning in Perth's south has eased, fire authorities say.

A watch and act alert is in place for residents in the eastern part of Baldvis in the city of Rockingham, about 46 kilometres south of Perth's CBD.

The fire was downgraded from emergency level - the highest fire rating - last night by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.

Early on Wednesday morning, DFES said a watch and act alert was in place for people in the eastern part of Baldivis bounded by Baldivis Road, Mundijong Road, the Kwinana Freeway, and Stakehill Road.

Another watch and act alert was current for the area east of Eighty Road, south of Sixty Eight Road, west of the Freeway and north of Stakehill Road, the agency said.

DFES says the fire is under control but not contained and there remains a "possible threat to lives and homes" in the area.

The blaze is stationary.

A severe fire danger day has been forecast in parts of the Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, Interior and Central West regions on Wednesday.
