Perth Heat win baseball premiership

The Claxton Shield is back in familiar surroundings, with the Perth Heat beating Canberra 2-1 to win their third premiership in four seasons.

Perth Heat have claimed their third Australian Baseball League premiership in four seasons with a 2-1 win over Canberra Cavalry.

Behind a dominant effort from starting pitcher Brian Baker, the Heat wrapped up a sweep of the Cavalry, with their win in Game Two of the ABL Championship Series on Saturday night.

The Claxton Shield is back in familiar surroundings, with the win giving the Heat their third premiership in four seasons.

It is WA's fifth crown in the last seven years of national competition.
