A Perth mother has trekked 23km through earthquake-ravaged terrain in Nepal to be reunited with her teenage son and his two friends at an army base in the country's north.

Rin Hutcheson and Jalada Wilson, both 18, and Raoul Poncin, 19, were hiking in Lampang National Park when the deadly 7.8-magnitude struck on Saturday.

After days of worrying because they hadn't heard from the young men, their parents were finally relieved to learn on Wednesday that they were safe but stranded at Syaphru Besi.

Jalada's mother Ida flew to Nepal and was making her way to the trio when her jeep got stuck in mud following landslides - so she walked the remaining 23km to the army base where the young men are being spooked by frequent rock falls.

"That is an epic effort," Raoul's father Freddy told AAP.

Mr Poncin says he's happy that they are alive and safe for the moment.

But he's frustrated the Australian Embassy has not yet airlifted them out of Syaphru Besi, which he described as "a village stuck against a mountain completely blocked off from the outside world".

Other nations had started to evacuate their citizens, including the French and Dutch, he said.

"I do understand that it's hard with the infrastructure.

"But it is a bit ridiculous.

"If the parents have to pay for the helicopter, so be it."

Mr Poncin said the teenagers were distressed and disturbed by the scenes of devastation, so much so they had forgotten their parents' phone numbers.
