Perth's gay community shows its pride

Pride WA celebrated its 25th anniversary with an epic Pridefest which saw thousands turn out to celebrate.

Perth's lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex community is recovering from an epic Pridefest, the 25th anniversary of diverse sexualities being officially celebrated in the city.

The nine days of festivities culminated in the Pride Parade through the streets of Northbridge, with many attendees winding up at Perth's premiere gay bar, The Court.

The round-the-clock revelry went way into the early hours of Sunday, with the bar's kitchen churning out food for more than 3000 patrons over almost 24 hours.

This year marked the 25th anniversary of a protest rally outside the WA parliament that resulted in the formation of Pride WA, an organisation that represents the interests of the LGBTI community.

Floats, performers and revellers were all decked out in their best and brightest attire, with The Court's favourite drag queen Hannah Conda a prominent stand-out.

"What a freaking week it has been one of the most exciting times of my life", she posted on Facebook.
