Pharmacists on war-footing over control

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is making veiled threats about what it might do if its members don't retain control over the supply of medicines.

Pharmacists have amassed a multi million-dollar war chest as they gear up to fight any move that threatens their control over the supply of prescription medicines.

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is holding off taking any action while it is in talks with the federal government about a new agreement due to come into force in July.

"If they were to stop, well, it might be different," guild spokesman Greg Turnbull told The Australian on Monday, confirming that a fighting fund had been established.
