Pharrell cries happy tears with Oprah

Music superstar Pharrell Williams has broken down in tears during an interview with talk show Queen Oprah Winfrey.

Video of people dancing to the hit song Happy has brought Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Pharrell Williams to tears.

Williams has had an amazing year so far and was nominated for an Oscar at this year's Academy Awards with his it Happy, which appeared in Despicable Me 2.

In a new interview with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, the 41-year-old couldn't contain his emotions.

"I'm so happy," he sobs in a preview for the Prime episode, which will air on Oprah's OWN network.

The teary moment was brought on when the chat show host showed him a video of people dancing to his Happy tune.

During the preview clip released on Monday, Pharrell also looks on teary eyed as pictures from his childhood are shown, including an adorable snap of the singer as a young boy, sporting an afro and a double denim outfit.

Williams released his new album G I R L last month and said he often finds his inspiration in unlikely places.

"My best songs come from two different ways," he reveals.

"Either when I have a really good gut feelling about something, it's written in the shower or on a plane.

"The water attracts your ear... You get distracted, and your mind wanders."

Williams will join the star-studded cast of The Voice US. The singer is the latest addition to the US show's panel of mentors, which now includes Adam Levine, Shakira, Blake Shelton and Usher.
