Phil Walsh's son couldn't match his will

Cy Walsh, the man accused of killing his father, AFL coach Phil Walsh, is an avid world traveller who loves Japan, online profiles show.

Phil Walsh's son Cy could never match his father's iron willpower and work ethic.

Now-deleted blog posts from 2013 show a young man trying to keep up with his AFL coach dad in Perth.

"I was amazed by something my father has that I am still lacking to a large degree: An Iron Willpower," Cy's post said.

"He can wake up incredibly early, own his 50 hour+ per week job, run everyday, drop vices like its no big deal (6 months no alcohol), and study Japanese on the side without flinching.

"This last part really hits home as becoming bi-lingual has and will remain a lofty dream of mine.

"I cannot force myself to study as hard as my father despite his undeniably more rigorous schedule."

Phil Walsh spoke publicly about his relationship with his son earlier in 2015, saying they had become disconnected due to his immersion in the football world.

Cy Jacob Walsh, 26, is in custody in Adelaide, charged with the murder of his father who was fatally stabbed at his home on Friday morning.

His online profiles reveal an avid world traveller who loved Japan and searched for spiritual fulfilment.

Walsh travelled extensively through Asia, India and South America, and also enjoyed playing guitar.

His couch surfing profile reveals he enjoyed staying at houses in North America and was keen to host people.

"Now I am back home with my parents, and want to give back and meet some people," his profile says.

Walsh also made YouTube videos in an attempt to find fame, but only found an audience of family and friends.

"The idea for content at that stage included picking up girls and smoking joints with old men in huts," he said.

"Looking back at the idea now makes the whole thing seems nothing short of a complete backfire."
