Philip Dalidakis named new Vic minister

Philip Dalidakis has been named Victoria's newest minister, replacing the axed Adem Somyurek who was forced to resign over bullying allegations.

Philip Dalidakis is Victoria's newest minister after the Labor caucus endorsed him to replace Adem Somyurek.

Mr Somyurek was suspended and then forced to resign over bullying allegations, which he denies, and he lashed out at the party this week.

Mr Dalidakis is a first-time MP who was a former staffer for Senator Stephen Conroy.

Labor's right faction met before Friday's caucus meeting to choose Mr Dalidakis over Shaun Leane and Jaclyn Symes.

The decision will be formally confirmed when the full caucus meets at 12.30pm and Premier Daniel Andrews allocates new portfolios.

Mr Dalidakis is expected to be sworn in at government house on Friday afternoon.

Mr Somyurek backed Mr Dalidakis to succeed as his replacement in the ministry.

"I think the new minister's great, he's got fantastic skills," Mr Somyurek told reporters on Friday.
