Jack Frost's impressive AFL season has earned the Collingwood key defender a two-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old was the only Magpie to play all 22 games this year and he has committed to the club until the end of the 2016 season.

Despite the rumblings around senior players such as Dayne Beams and Heretier Lumumba, Frost said in a club media release that the future is bright for Collingwood.

"We have a fantastic group of players and a real belief in the direction we are going and I look forward to hopefully playing a key role in that," Frost said.

He has proved a bargain recruit for Collingwood after they picked him up with pick No.46 in the 2012 rookie draft.

Frost had a knee injury last year and only managed two games in his debut season.

But he did well on key forwards this year, restricting Sydney star Lance Franklin to only two goals in round two.

"Since joining Collingwood in 2012, Jack has tackled every challenge thrown his way with great enthusiasm, and embraced the responsibility which comes with playing a key role at senior level," said Magpies football director Rodney Eade.

"We've been delighted by Jack's ability to stand up as a young leader and certainly look forward to his continued development in the years to come."
