'Pies captain rapt with round-one AFL move

Collingwood captain Scott Pendlebury says the SCG is a much better ground and he's happy the round-one match against Sydney has moved from ANZ Stadium.

While Collingwood's hierarchy is angry with Sydney, Magpies captain Scott Pendlebury is rapt that their round-one AFL match is now at the SCG.

Sydney's announcement this week that their ANZ Stadium games would move to the SCG fired up Magpies president Eddie McGuire and chief executive Gary Pert.

They are furious about the short notice.

But on Tuesday, coach Nathan Buckley said it was no skin off his nose.

He said it would be a good chance to remedy their narrow round-20 loss last season at the SCG.

Pendlebury went further on Wednesday, saying the SCG was a much better playing venue.

"I was rapt that it's at the SCG and I think all the players are," he told Fox Footy.

"Logistically, I know it's a nightmare for the club.

"But for the players, the ground is much better at the SCG and our health and safety is No.1.

"The AFL has looked after us."
