A pig has been found wandering the streets in Adelaide's north, prompting a local council to issue a plea for its owner to come forward.

The porker was picked up while wandering along Cross Keys Road and heading towards Park Terrace on Wednesday.

Salisbury Council posted a picture on its Facebook page urging the owner to come forward.

"He or she is safe and well, but we'd love to be able to get him home," the council said.

Judging by the photo, it's pretty clear this little piggy is a she.
